This weeks challenge from The Diva, Laura Harms was to create a tile using only 2 Tangles: Hybrid and Strircles.  At first I thought...will I be bored using just 2 tangles?  But, no...it was actually a great challenge for me.  I hope you like what I have done.

Zendala's

I always knew that Zendala's would be interesting...but, WOW I am having so much fun with them.  I hope you enjoy my first try at this.  I am sure there will be many more to come.  Maybe I will even color some of them.

My liitle corner of the world...

Trying to make a small guest room into a working studio/craft room.  Not an easy task to accomplish when storage is at a minimum. Here is a picture of my little corner that is fairly orginized...sort of.....maybe not.....lol

Diva Challenge # 64

The Diva Challenge this week was for everyone to use a common string in their work.   For this, we simply divided our tile into 4, then divided them again, through the diagonals, creating 8 triangles.   I hope you enjoy what I have created.

Diva Challenge # 61

This past weeks Diva Challenge was to draw a new tangle called 'Gloven' which means wave in Dutch.  Although I was not happy with the outcome, because mine doesn't look anything like waves.  I remembered...there are no mistakes in Zentangle, so her it is in all it's glory.

Sunday Afternoon

As I sit here waiting for the Daytona 500 to start...that's right, I am a Nascar fan and I don't like rain delays.  I am working on an 8" X 10" piece of art I plan on giving to a friend in March.  There is nothing like Zentangle to pass the time and relax.

Family class

Happy Presidents Day everyone.
This past Saturday I hosted a ladies only brunch for my family.  We had such an amazing time, with sharing and laughing until our stomachs hurt.
They have all been asking what is this 'Zentangle' stuff you speak of?  lol
So I decided to hold a class for them.  They had a blast learning some basic Tangles and gave me some much appreciated feedback on how I was doing as a teacher.

Here are the tiles that they did:

Prior to becoming a CZT, I attended a class in 'Psycho-symmetry' taught by Jill Voelker at the Plymouth Art Guild, Plymouth MA.
In Jill's own words, this art form is: "Drawing freehand spontaneously creating shapes and patterns that correspond symmetrically and the artist develops a personal piece of internal perspective that displays their subconscious mind.  Psycho-symmetry provides balance, proportion and harmony in a creative exercise for the psyche as you explore the subconscious 'playground' of your mind and spirit."

It is through the use of color that this art form brings you to another level.  A design initially done in black pen will be copied many times and colored in different ways to create an elaborate collection of unique pieces.
There is no limit to the creativity psycho-symmetry provides; pieces can be cut, flipped or arranged to create an infinite possibility of design.  The completed work is so personal and versatile that you can get lost gazing at the finished creation.
On February 24, the Plymouth Art Guild will be holding the opening reception for the Student/Teacher art exhibit.  My 'psycho-symmetry' art will be among the pieces being displayed.
I am excited to see what people think...or am I?

Here is a picture of the original piece prior to adding color.  I will take a picture as it hangs in the gallery and post it here after February 24.

Snowy day in new England

I am so excited that the next NECZT get together will be held in Plymouth, MA at the clubhouse near my home.  I am looking forward to hosting this event with the help of my CZT friends, especially Elaine Huffman.

It's a snowy day  here  and what else would I do but Tangle the day away...
Here is a Valentine Tree Heart that I am working on.  It still needs to have the shading done, but I am having so much fun with it.  Look at all the tiny hearts there are on the branches.

This past Saturday, January 28th I attended  the first New England Certified Zentangle Teachers get together at the beautiful home of Elaine Huffman.
It was quite the eye opener to see every one's art work and what their plans are for the future.

Here are some of the things we did:
* A machine quilted tangle demonstration by Elaine Huffman (our Hostess)
* Marketing and Teaching strategies for our business
* Show & Tell
* Dr. Meredith Yuhas (also a CZT) shared with us her clinical work on the benefits of
  Zentangle Art

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch which included homemade chicken soup (yum yum)
We were pleasantly surprised to have Maria Thomas join us.  As you know she is an amazing woman and if it wasn't for her and Rick Roberts...there would be no Zentangle.

This get together is just the beginning for us as we are in the process of planning many more in the future....so many ideas and tangles to share.
